Prof Dharm Singh Jat

 

Prof Dharm Singh Jat is a Professor of Computer Science and the UNESCO Chairholder on Secure High-performance Computing for Higher Education and Research established at Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). Professor Dharm Singh Jat received his Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from Thapar University, India and PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur, India. From 1990 to 2014, he served as an Assistant Professor in the College of Technology and Engineering, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, India. He also served as Honorary Secretary the Institution of Engineers (India), Udaipur Local Chapter. He is Patron and served as Chairman of Computer Society of India, Udaipur Chapter. He serves as Chair of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Windhoek Chapter, Distinguished ACM Speaker, and IEEE Computer Society DVP Speaker. For more than 33 years in industry and academia, Prof Dharm Singh Jat has led several innovative projects successfully, provided leadership in research and development. He has guided and supervised 9 PhD and 27 Masters students. Prof Dharm Singh Jat is the author of more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and the author or editor of more than 20 books and conference proceedings. He edited or co-edited several special issues of international journals on a range of computer science-related topics. His research interests span High Performance Computing, multimedia communications, wireless technologies, machine learning, big data infrastructure, mobile communication systems, edge computing, network security, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT). He served as an Associate Editor of IEEE ACCESS, Keynote speaker for several IEEE and ACM international conferences globally, External examiner or evaluator for PhD and masters for several universities, Guest editor of several reputed journals, member of the editorial board of several research journals, and TPC chair of reputed conferences around the globe. He boasts a highly distinguished academic track record and has been the recipient of more than 19 prestigious awards as a Scientist and Engineer. He is a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers, as well as the Fellow of Computer Society of India, and a Chartered Engineer. He is a Senior Member of IEEE. His professional awards include the Eminent Scientist Award, Distinguished Academic Achievement, Eminent Engineering Personality, Computer Society of India (CSI) Chapter Patron and Significant Contribution, Best Faculty Researcher, Best Technical Staff, Outstanding University Service, Distinguished ACM Speaker Award, and IEEE Computer Society DVP Speaker award. He is a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers (I), Computer Society of India, Senior Member IEEE and Life member, The Indian Science Congress Association (Engineering Science). He has contributed significantly to the development of Multimedia Communication over Wired and Wireless Networks and formed a Special Interest Group on Wireless Networks (SIG-WNs ) of the Computer Society of India (CSI). He was designated as the first Convener and Chairman of SIG-WNs by CSI.
